Adriana Merino was invited by Professor Istvan Kecskés, to give a talk at the 8th Sorbonne, Paris – SUNY Graduate Student Symposium on April 18-19, 2022, in Albany, NY. Merino’s presentation was on her recent research on intercultural pragmatics, which explores and explains the reasons underlying misunderstandings, communication breakdowns, and pragmatic missteps when dealing with non-literal language in intercultural, multilingual spoken interactions.
