Brujas, madres, soldados y pastores
This work-in-progress project aims to examine the way in which Basque identity has been represented both domestically and abroad in the last century – century and a half (with special attention to the USA and Argentina) as well as the changes and challenges this identity has endured through the years.
The first part of the project, the examination of the mythical figure of the baserritarra or Basque farmer, was published in the Arizona Journal Culture Studies (find it here). A second article exploring the figure of the mother appeared in the Bulletin of Hispanic Studies (find it here).
