By Paloma Moscardó Vallés

Lecturer Paloma Moscardó Vallés participated in the 6th International Symposium on Languages for Specific Purposes (ISLSP) and the Centers for International Business Education and Research (CIBER). This year’s biennial conference was hosted by the University of Chicago from April 21 to 22. The theme of this year’s edition was The Future of LSP: Research, Assessment, Curricula. Paloma presented her project of telecollaboration with the University of Caldas in Colombia matching students of her medical Spanish class with Colombian English students from the Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud. The title of the presentation was: “Saved by the …Virtual Exchange: An Example of Virtual Exchange between a Medical Spanish class and an English class in Colombia during Covid and non-Covid Times”. LSP is a growing field in our country with more and more presence in many institutions that offer minors, certificates, and majors. There were 24 presentations from institutions all over the country and two fascinating keynote speakers. The conference was also a great opportunity for connecting with other colleagues who are working in the same field.
